Our Story
Hi! I'm Brittany, mom of 2 rescue dogs and 29 chickens.
By day I'm the Operations Manager at Hudson Valley Fisheries, a steelhead trout farm growing the most delicious fish around.

Many ocean fisheries are overtaxed, making land-based aquaculture a great and sustainable way forward. Our trout are raised in a recirculating aquaculture system, which removes the worry about microplastics and mercury that are a concern in many wild caught fish. We also avoid antibiotics and hormone use that can be an issue for some conventionally farmed fish. I'm proud to say that we take fish welfare and environmental stewardship seriously and we've been certified by several third parties, including New York Grown and Certified, Best Aquaculture Practices, and Ecocert Swiss AG.
Which brings me to Happy Trout Pet Treats! I wanted to create treats to share the high quality fish that we grow with other people's pets, not just my own. Our fish is 100% New York hatched, grown, harvested, processed, and packaged. You can be confident that you know where the treats are coming from, that the fish were raised responsibly, harvested humanely, and processed safely to the highest standards. There are no preservatives or additives to any of our treats, only fish.
